Domain transfer
In this tutorial, you will learn how to place an order for transferring a domain from another registrar to Hostico.
Introduction
- In this tutorial you will learn how to place an order for transferring a domain from another registrar to Hostico.
Requirements
- A Hostico client account - if it does not exist, you can access the tutorial Create a Hostico client account to explain the steps necessary to create one;
- EPP code / transfer authorization code, which must be obtained from the current service provider.
Steps:
- After logging into the client account, we will select the section Domains;
- In the opened interface, we will go to the section Domain Registration and enter the domain name we want to transfer to Hostico and click on Transfer;
- After you have completed the desired domain, the transfer order has been added To the cart;
- Access the shopping cart to add the authorization key;
In the marked box, the transfer key obtained from the old registrar will be entered;
The order can then be placed, and following the payment, the domain transfer will be initiated;
WHOIS Protection - For most domains (.com, .net, .org), there is the option to purchase identity protection to safeguard personal data. You can opt for this option by checking the WHOIS Protection box.
Name Server - you can complete those that you already have set on the domain or you can leave the standard Hostico ones: ns1.hostico.ro, ns2.hostico.ro, ns3.hostico.ro, ns4.hostico.ro having the option to change them after the domain transfer process is completed.
After completing the order and paying the corresponding invoice, the domain transfer will be initiated;
In order for the transfer to be initiated, you must access the mailbox set as the contact address for the domain, usually the mailbox used for registering the domain (here you will receive a confirmation email) and confirm that you want the domain transfer.
Note:
- After initiation, the transfer can take between 1-6 days. As soon as the transfer is completed, you will receive a confirmation at the email address of your client account, and you will then be able to manage the domain through Hostico, from your client account in the Domains section.
- For transferring a domain (for extensions that allow the transfer of the site name):
- you need an EPP code - authorization code for transfer, obtained from the current registrar of the domain
- For the transfer to be possible, the following settings must not be active on the domain:
- Identity protection (ID protection / Whois protection / Privacy protection)
- Theft protection
- Transfer lock (Registrar Lock)
- If you're having trouble with these options, you can ask for help from the company where you hold the respective domain.
- If you have placed an order for a transfer and it has not been initiated, please contact the commercial department
